Maya Devi (Monica f.) is dancer and teacher of Indian and Bollywood dances at the international level. She travels, and performs professionally in India since 1996. She is recognized as an Active Member of CID UNESCO and as first and only teacher of GIPSY DANCES of RAJASTHAN and KALBELIYA in Italy. Maya dances since the age of 8 studying various forms of dance: Argentine Tango, Flamenco with international grandmasters, gypsy dances, SUFI dance, Asian and Japanese dances and also the Chau dance of Orissa. She is the only Italian students of SUVA DEVI, one of the greatest teachers of Kalbeliya and of Gulabo Sapera, the greatest dancer of Rajasthani dances in the world.

From 1996 she travels in India following a deep spiritual journey following the “ Living goddess tradition" and learns Indian and sacred dances during long stays: the folk dances of Rajasthan with the Guru Vandana, Kalbeliya dance at the villages of gipsy enchanters of snakes and the teacher Sua Devi, dance Odissi with Rekha Tandon in Bhubaneswar, dance Khatak with Kamal Guru Maharaj and Sufi dance from Indian Masters.

Maya has founded MUDRARTE in 2009 to spread the teachings of Yoga and Indian dance in Italy. She is also Creative Director and teacher of the Maharani Dance Company and Bollywood Dance Academy. Since 2010 she is dedicated to spreading the nomadic GYPSY Dances ROUTE through dance festivals, such as festival NOMAD DANCE FEST dedicated to all gipsy dances and nomads and the MAYUR INDIAN DANCE FEST .

Maya holds classes and workshops in Milan and the whole of Italy and performed in famous theaters and abroad in international dance festivals with the Maharani Dance Company. Every year she organizes INDIA DANCE TOUR a journey dedicated to dance for people who want to learn the dances and culture of India.
